The countdown has begun for the May 23rd release of X-Men: Days of Future Past. The time-travelling mutant adventure has fans both in rabid anticipation and confusion over the film’s plot and continuity. 20th Century Fox released the final trailer for their upcoming summer tent pole and its scale is impressive. Enjoy the trailer.
The trailer gives us our first look at how the film is structured. There are elements of a caper or heist film, countered by a sense of apocalyptic horror that seems to come to an explosive finale. (They even went all Emmerich on us and destroyed the White House, that is how you know this flick means business.) Wolverine, the quintessential loner, is being used to assemble a team of mutants capable of prison breaks and stopping whatever events lead to a cataclysmic future. Hopefully this sense of urgency brings out another side of Wolverine while allowing all the other characters, in particular Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr, room to have satisfying arcs. Tell ya what…we can’t wait to find out!
