Today, ahead of schedule, Paramount released a teaser trailer for its contentious (at least for fans) reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This newest Turtles movie is a complete reboot of the TMNT film continuity, and appears to bare only slight resemblance in appearance, tone, or plot to Nickelodeon’s popular CGI TV show starring the heroes in a half-shell. Happily, the turtles are indeed mutants, not aliens as Michael Bay suggested they were last year, and are—supposedly—teenaged, so there’s that.

Check it out:

I only counted five explosions. How about you?

Some notes:

There’s no hint of Splinter in this teaser, which is a bummer. I find myself hoping that he isn’t six feet tall, too, because that would be terribly distracting.

What do you think about the turtles being “created” by Shredder and April’s dad? Let us know!
