Today, ahead of schedule, Paramount released a teaser trailer for its contentious (at least for fans) reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This newest Turtles movie is a complete reboot of the TMNT film continuity, and appears to bare only slight resemblance in appearance, tone, or plot to Nickelodeon’s popular CGI TV show starring the heroes in a half-shell. Happily, the turtles are indeed mutants, not aliens as Michael Bay suggested they were last year, and are—supposedly—teenaged, so there’s that.

Some notes:

There’s no hint of Splinter in this teaser, which is a bummer. I find myself hoping that he isn’t six feet tall, too, because that would be terribly distracting.
